About
Amariee, is a Black American woman who does not subscribe to gender roles. She’s a sister, cousin, mother to three sons, and an aunt to several nieces and nephews. She is an USAF veteran, and holds the United States accountable for its promises. Amariee is the wife of an amazing minister of the Word, who fights against the ongoing presence of colonialism and capitalism in our society, and who stands in solidarity with all persecuted minorities and historically underserved communities. She loves all our relations, plants and animals, which means she enjoys spending quality time outdoors. Amariee hopes to have a tiny home one-day, as she’d like to be more nomadic. She is intentionally creating spaces for persons to safely bring life into this world.
Amariee gained her skills and knowledge about traditional midwifery and home birth in the Tri-state area (IN, KY, OH) and Massachusetts. She also acquired skills and knowledge at birth centers in New Hampshire and Washington State. She has shared knowledge with traditional midwives, licensed midwives, nurse midwives and countless students.
Since completing my MEAC requirements at Midwives College of Utah, NARM requirements, and passing the NARM exam for certification, Amariee has applied for licensure in many states. Although, some states do not require licensure, currently she is licensed in Michigan, Texas, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Tennessee. In addition to the states above, she currently attends births in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kansas, Massachusetts, Georgia and Nevada. Amariee has attended over 100 births as the primary midwife, in home birth and birth center settings. One benefit from attending over 100 primary births is becoming a NARM preceptor. She is blessed to have student midwives across the nation in the practice.
As well as being a licensed midwife, Amariee is a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) and tax professional. From the age of 10, she joined the NAACP in Kansas and Urban League of Kansas. She continues her passions for racial justice, water shortage, prison reform, humanitarian aid, education, unaccompanied minors, health care for all, maternal health crisis and immigration justice. Amariee continues to testified at local, state, provincial and national governments, related to access to care and the obstacles placed in the way of all persons. As a person of able-bodied, educated, Black woman veteran and mother, Amariee seeks the highest care and respect for all.
